Liquid polygel, builder gel and BIAB all add strength to the natural nail, but they differ in how they are applied and what they are best for. Here is how they compare and when each one makes sense.
What is liquid polygel?
Liquid polygel combines the durability of polygel with the convenience of bottle application. It is self-levelling, UV/LED curable and builds a strong, durable structure with excellent adhesion. Our Liquid Polygel collection offers soft pink, nude, rose and milky shades for natural-looking everyday manicures.
It works well for natural nail overlays, for creating structure and apex, and for strengthening weak, thin or brittle nails, mostly on short to medium lengths.
What is builder gel?
Builder gel is made for building structure. Our Builder Gel Clear has a medium viscosity, a self-levelling consistency and a crystal-clear finish. Besides overlays, it is suitable for sculpting, for extensions using forms and for building the apex.
What is BIAB?
BIAB stands for Builder in a Bottle. It is a self-levelling builder gel in a bottle that helps strengthen and reinforce the natural nail. Our Camouflage BIAB collection has skin-toned shades for natural-looking nails and is a good fit for natural nail overlays, weak or brittle nails, and growing and maintaining natural nail length.

- Cure under a UV/LED lamp for 60 or 120 seconds, as listed on the product page.
- Refine the shape if required.
- Continue with your chosen colour and design, or finish with a top coat.
Frequently asked questions
Can liquid polygel be used on weak or thin nails?
Yes. Our Liquid Polygel is recommended for strengthening natural nails, including weak, thin or brittle nails.
Is liquid polygel the same as builder gel?
No. Both are self-levelling and cure under UV/LED, but our Liquid Polygel is made for natural nail overlays and everyday wear on short to medium lengths, while Builder Gel Clear is also suited to sculpting and extensions using forms.
Do I need a special lamp?
No. These products are UV/LED curable, so a UV or LED nail lamp works.
Where should I start if I want to try several systems?
The Builder Starter set includes a clear builder, Magic BIAB, two Bonbon shades, a camouflage shade and a liquid polygel, plus the top coat.
